VIETNAM. Hue. Refugees flee across a damaged bridge. Marines intended to carry their counterattack from the southern side, right into the citadel of the city. Despite many guards, the Vietcong were able to swim underwater and blow up the bridge, using skin-diving equipment from the Marines.

His father, Bui Quang Hung, was a soldier with the NLF. The family lives in Quang Tri. She was sprayed and he believes he was affected by drinking water from local streams.

  • VIET NAM. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Oanh, Harvard-educated economist, known to his friends as "Jack" Oanh. He was acting Prime Minister in the old regime and was surprisingly embraced by the communist government to advise on their economic reforms. Inspired by Margaret Thatcher, he bacame the facilitator that allowed the World Bank to effectively control the economy of Viet Nam.
